Opening of the Mibu Airstrip, Papua New Guinea

The 14th of October was a day of joy as the Mibu airstrip in the Madang province was reopened after many years of hard work.

Pilot Brad Venter did three test landings, and the airstrip is now opened to serve the community and the missionaries in the remote area of Finnisterre mountains.

This is the first time a rural airstrip in PNG has ever had a geogrid reinforcement installed to improve the subsurface strength. An innovative design solution by the RAA, lots of local manual labour working with the team on ground resulting in a great result for the Mibu community.

A demonstration of perfect partnership in between MAF, RAA, NTM and the people of Mibu.
