Volunteer with MAF
Whether it’s speaking at churches or other groups, helping run MAF displays at Christian and community events, leading a MAF prayer group, running your own fundraiser for MAF or simply keeping your church informed about MAF, you can be sure that your contribution will be valuable.
Being a MAF Volunteer, contributing your time and talent, will make a real difference to people living in isolation in some of the most remote communities on the planet.
Some quotes from volunteers
"I was initially interested in MAF because I love aeroplanes, and because I'm passionate about sharing the Gospel, and it was an organisation that combined these two things. Volunteering and getting to know some of the faces behind MAF has shown me how much of an impact this organisation has on individuals, communities and countries, sharing God's love with others in practical, lifesaving ways."
Danielle Labinsky
Recent university graduate, MAF Ambassadors Group.
“As former missionaries, we recognise the need of prayer support for those on the front line of missionary work.We are actively interested in the services which M.A.F provides to so many people around the world. It is our privilege before God to stand with our brothers and sisters in prayer and giving, so that the kingdom of God may be extended through the effective preaching and distribution of the Gospel...”
Peter and Shirley Emanuel
Former missionaries in South America, MAF Prayer Hosts.
'Being a volunteer with MAF gives me the opportunity to tell others about the significant and varied ministry of this organisation. I also have the privilege of sharing in the great work done by our field staff, and encouraging others to consider praying, giving, or going.'
Peter Hunter,
Retired IT engineer, MAF Ambassadors Group.
Qualifications
- The majority of MAF’s work is accomplished by men and women employing their God-given gifts to serve others. The volunteers at MAF share a deep love for Christ and for His mission.
- As an MAF volunteer, you become a key ministry partner who helps transform lives worldwide. Key beliefs that unite MAF volunteers are: a passionate love for Jesus Christ, a heart for unreached people and a conviction that their efforts will help transform lives in the world's most remote areas.
- Most volunteer positions are in or near the volunteer’s own community. MAF Ambassadors give presentations on MAF to churches and other groups. Event volunteers run MAF displays at Christian and community events. Prayer Hosts, facilitate prayer meetings for MAF. MAF Church Representatives keep their own church informed about MAF’s work. There are also opportunities to assist in a variety of roles at the National Office in Sydney and occasionally – especially for those with technical qualifications – to assist short-term on operational bases in Australia or overseas.
- At MAF, it is our desire for volunteers to employ their gifts and strengths as they grow in Christ, while at the same time advancing the ministry of MAF in a significant way. In order that volunteer candidates are effectively matched with appropriate work, every volunteer candidate goes through a screening process.
